Every Mom needs a little Spa Time, and as a Massage Therapist I especially love it, because I know how beneficial it can be for your mind and body. But lets face it when you become a mom you have less time and money to indulge and treat yourself to a day at the spa. That doesn’t mean you have to give up on pampering yourself, there’s a number of different things you can do to pamper yourself at home. One of my favorite things to do, especially in the winter when my skin is dry and dull, is whip up my own face masks from ingredients right in my kitchen. One of my go to recipes is only 3 ingredients, Organic plain Greek Yogurt, Raw Honey, and Oatmeal. That’s it! So easy and ordinary but the benefits of those ingredients are amazing! The Greek yogurt has lactic acid that dissolves dead skin cells and tightens pores, naturally reduces fine lines and wrinkles, fights acne, fades blemishes, and reduces dark circles. Honey, is naturally antibacterial so its great for acne treatment and prevention. It is also full of antioxidants, so is great for slowing down aging, it is extremely moisturizing and soothing so it helps create a beautiful glow! Oatmeal contains saponins a cleansing agent and can therefore be used as a mild soap. It is moisturizing and helps remove dead skin cells. Oatmeal can help treat acne, eczema, rosacea, and rashes. So that’s my favorite face mask that you can easily whip up at home. Another thing I like to do is get the feel of getting a facial by steaming my face. Simply boil some water in a large pot preferably filtered water add about 15 drops of your favorite essential oils, I use Lavender because it smells good is relaxing and has a ton of beneficial properties like antimicrobial and antioxidant. Once you have your hot water and essential oils in the pot put your face above pot not too close to burn you and throw a towel over your head and let the steam hit your face you can stay there for 10-30 minutes whatever you feel like. Last but certainly not least one of my favorite home pampering things to do is soak in a hot Epsom salt bath. epsom salt is awesome! When absorbed through the skin works to relieve muscle tension, pain and inflammation in joints.Submerge yourself in a warm Epsom salt bath to alleviate tension headaches, soothe cramps,and tired and sore feet will LOVE you for it. I like to add some Lavender essential oil to really give a relaxing experience. Just put 10-15 drops over running water. Well there you have it my favorite 3 things to do when I feel like I need a day at the Spa!
